  • Desire a solution that doesn’t require removing or adjusting adjacent healthy teeth, as bridges do

Anyone who has lost a tooth or multiple teeth due to injury, decay, or other dental issues can be a good candidate. Adequate bone density in the jaw is needed to support the implant. If bone loss has occurred, a bone graft may be required before getting implants.

Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution for missing teeth, provided proper care is taken. Good oral hygiene, regular check-ups, and avoiding habits like smoking, clenching, etc can prolong the life of your implant.

Yes, dental implants is a well-established and safe dental procedure. Titanium, which is commonly used for the implant, is biocompatible and integrates well with the bone, reducing the risk of rejection or complications.

During the implant procedure, local anesthesia is used to numb the area, making the procedure relatively painless. Some patients may experience mild discomfort or swelling afterward, but this is generally manageable with the medications prescribed.

In a missing tooth situation:

  • Implant can be placed if there is sufficient bone available to secure the implant.
  • If sufficient bone is not available implant can be placed, if candidate is favorable to have a bone graft

If the tooth needs to be extracted:

    • In an infected tooth situation, we may have to wait for about 3 to 6 months post-extraction to allow the extraction site to heal and for complete bone formation to occur.
    • In non-infected cases, if the surrounding bone tissue is healthy, immediate implant placement can be done.
  • Healthy oral tissues and good general health are essential.

Once the implant is placed, it usually takes 3 to 6 months for the implant to fully integrate with the bone. After this healing period, the crown or bridge is placed on the implant.

If the conditions are favorable, we can place a temporary crown on the implant, which can later be changed to a permanent one.
